This weekend we had a little gathering with some friends and I put together what is sure to become a new go-to dessert for us. It was quick, it was easy, and it was really unexpected. Everyone loved it! What was it? A s’mores charcuterie board!

Yes, that’s right. A s’mores inspired dessert board – it was a huge hit, and my husband said he never wants to do s’mores the “normal” way again.

What is a S’mores Charcuterie Board?

First of all, let’s tackle the obvious. This isn’t actually a charcuterie board. By definition, those need to include some meats! But, the phrase “charcuterie board” has become a bit co-opted to include basically any arrangement of food on a board so we’re rolling with it a bit here.

It’s technically a dessert board, and it’s one of the most fun desserts you’ll ever have. I put together a collection of cookies, sweet snacks, and anything s’more flavored. Then, I paired it with a super easy s’more dip, along with some of the fixings for traditional s’mores as well. It’s sure to please everyone, and has a little something for every taste preference.

How to Make a S’mores Dessert Board

There’s no right or wrong way to do this, it’s really up to your preferences and all about what you like!

I included:

  • S’mores dip (see the recipe below)
  • Graham crackers
  • Dark and milk chocolate squares
  • Chocolate chip cookies (Chips Ahoy brand)
  • S’mores snack mix (found at the grocery store)
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate covered oreos
  • Strawberries
  • Cannoli dip (from Trader Joe’s)
  • Butter cookies
  • Pretzel thins

Other things that would be great on this type of board include…

  • Other fruit like blueberries or raspberries
  • Nilla wafers
  • Crackers
  • Reese’s Cups
  • Various candies
  • Any other candy bar or cookie you can dream up!

Basically, the idea is to allow you guests to get really creative with their s’mores. Encourage reckless abandon when it comes to the combinations. Mix up the cookies, go with something other than plain chocolate, or toss some fruit or m&ms in there. The more creative you get, the better!

This obviously works best for an outdoor party where you’ll have a fire so guests can actually roast some marshmallows if they want to. But, we found it worked just as well for our indoor party! Most guests just scooped up the s’mores dip and used it as the filling. Some of the kids ate plain marshmallows, and many people just snacked on the various parts of the s’more without actually assembling anything!

So, we keep talking about this magic s’mores dip and I’m sure you’re wondering what it is. Are you ready for this recipe? It might be the easiest one you’ve ever seen.

Instructions

  1. Grab a small oven-safe baking dish and line the bottom with the chocolate bar.
  2. Spread the marshmallows out over the top of the dish, so the chocolate is fully covered.

  4. Turn the broiler on for about 30-45 seconds to brown up the tops of the marshmallows.
