I have a few different recipes I love to make every summer. Things I go to over and over – some of which, I’ve been making since college! This strawberry lemonade recipe is one of them. I absolutely love making this recipe when the weather starts to warm up, and my kids are always so excited to find a pitcher of it in the fridge!

This recipe is a tad labor intensive, only because you need to strain out all of the pulp and seeds from the strawberries if you want a smooth drink. But, I promise, it’s worth the extra 10 minutes it takes!

The only other warning I’ll give you is that you probably want to double the recipe. Because it goes fast. This stuff never last more than a day or two in my house because it’s just that good.

The Best Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 pint of strawberries
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon zest
  • 1 cup of lemon juice (I usually use a 2-lb bag of lemons)

You’ll start by making a simple syrup. Add one cup of the sugar and one cup of the water to a small saucepan. Heat it over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has melted and the mixture is smooth.

Once that’s done, allow it to cool while you continue working. Cut off the tops of all of the strawberries. Then, add them to your blender, along with the remaining sugar and water. Blend until completely smooth.

Straining strawberry lemonade mixture into a pitcher

Optional – now, I like to take this mixture and run it through a strainer into my pitcher. I find this gives a much smoother finished product, and my kids like it more this way! You can use a silicone spatula to help press the strawberries into the strainer as you work, to make sure you get all of the juice possible.

You can toss the pulpy parts of the strawberry, or you can set it aside to do something else with. We’ve made ice cream topping with it before, and it’s delicious!

Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and simple syrup to your pitcher.

Stir to combine, then toss the whole thing in the fridge for a while until it’s chilled.

Then, enjoy!

This will last in the fridge for about 3-4 days, but I’d be shocked it if made it that long without getting devoured.

P.S. I dare you to try it with some rum.

It’ll change your life.
