This recipe is a staple in our refrigerator year-round. It takes mere minutes to throw together, but when you serve it at a dinner party your guests are pretty much guaranteed to be blown away by how delicious it is. Just don’t tell them that it was also the easiest recipe you’ve ever followed!
If you want to feel extra fancy, be sure to grab a few extra lemons, oranges, or apples to slice up and toss in the top of your pitcher. This works best when you know you’ll be drinking the sangria all in one go. If you don’t, be sure to fish the fruit out before you store it in the fridge!

I’ll dive into the recipe below, but first let’s answer a few of the most frequently asked questions we get about this recipe.
Can I swap out the passion fruit concentrate?
One of the most common questions is if it’s okay to swap out the passion fruit concentrate. It seems to be hit or miss at a lot of grocery stores.
The answer is a big resounding of course!
This recipe is very flexible, and super customizable. If you can’t find specific flavors of the juice concentrates, just swap them out for something else. It’s really fun to play around with different combinations to see what flavor you like best!
I always use orange juice and some lemonade, but sometimes the passion fruit gets swapped out for fruit juice, apple juice, or whatever else strikes my fancy at the store. In fact, when I was photographing for this post I wasn’t able to find the passion fruit and used fruit juice concentrate instead – and it tasted just fine.
How long does it last?
This easy sangria stays tasty in the fridge for up to 5 days (though, it almost never has a chance to last that long).
If you’ll be storing it in the fridge, I recommend using a pitcher with a lid. You can also cover the top of the pitcher with some plastic wrap so it doesn’t take on any fridge flavors.
The sangria does lose the carbonation after sitting in the fridge, but the flavors develop really nicely and I might argue that it tastes even better on day two or three.
Pro tip: If you have an empty gallon jug of tea or milk, clean it out and use that to store your sangria! It’s easier to pour, and seals in the freshness for even longer.
Can I change the wine?
Not a fan of red wine? I get it! Personally, I can’t drink red wine alone because I often get a headache from the tannins. But, for some reason, mix it with a bunch of amazing fruit juice and it doesn’t bother me one bit.
That being said, I haven’t tried this recipe with white wine. But, I think if I was in the mood for a white sangria, I’d try a different recipe. White sangria is generally made with fruit-flavored brandy and fresh fruit. I imagine the mix of fruit juice concentrates with the white wine would look less than appealing.
Cabernet isn’t generally a red wine that’s traditionally used for sangria, but I prefer it for this specific recipe because it gives a result that isn’t overly sweet or fruity. But, if you just aren’t a Cabernet fan here’s a few other red wines you could try:
- Pinot Noir
- Any red blend
And remember, feel free to cheap out a bit on the wine here. You don’t need to get really fancy red wine when you’ll just be mixing it with a bunch of other things! We usually go for a really cheap, large bottle and it works great for us every time.
Easy Homemade Sangria Recipe
Simple, Delicious Sangria
This sangria takes less than 5 minutes to put together, and it might just be the most delicious homemade sangria you've ever tried!
- 1 can of pulp-free frozen orange juice from concentrate
- 1 can of frozen passion fruit juice from concentrate
- 1/2 can of lemonade from concentrate
- 1.5 liter bottle of Cabernet
- 1 liter of club soda
- A couple of lemons or limes (optional)
- Start by allowing the juice concentrates to thaw a bit - it's much easier to mix if they aren't fully frozen.
- In a gallon-sized pitcher, mix the juice concentrates and the bottle of Cabernet. Whisk to combine thoroughly.
- Once mixed, add the club soda, and stir to combine.
- Just before serving, add in a few slices of fresh lemon or lime
